Every single Primary 1-7 pupil in Barthol Chapel School is a member of the Pupil Voice Group. This means that all pupils in the school have the opportunity to express their views, share their ideas and contribute to decision making on issues that affect them. We hold regular “Pupil Voice Assemblies” where we discuss a range of topic which affects us all at Barthol Chapel School. Article 12 of the UN convention for children’s rights states that “Every child has the right to have a say in all matters affecting them, and to have their views taken seriously”.
We believe strongly that our pupils have the right to participate in a democratic process, and to contribute positively to the life of Barthol Chapel School.
Through participation in our pupil voice groups our children gain an understanding of how citizens can influence decision making. They learn how a representative body makes decisions in their best interests.
