Parent Forums and Councils
The Scottish Schools (Parent Involvement) Act 2006 established a new model of parent representation which came into effect on 1 August 2007. The Act provided that all parents and carers of children at a school are automatically members of the Parent Forum for that school. Each Parent Forum may then establish a Parent Council to represent the views of parents to both the school and the local authority.
Barthol Chapel School has a very supportive Parent Council. There are lots of ways in which Barthol Chapel School, parents, families and the community work together to give our children the best possible education. We are most effective when we develop and maintain positive relationships with all members of our school community.
The aim of the Parent Council at Barthol Chapel School is to:
•To work in partnership with the school to create a welcoming school that is inclusive for all parents
•To promote partnership between the school, its pupils and all its parents
•To develop and engage in activities which support the education and welfare of the pupils including providing or assisting in the provision of facilities to enhance education at the school
•To identify and represent the views of parents on the education provided by the school and other matters affecting the education and welfare of the pupils
•To participate in the appointment of senior staff at the school
